FAITH CHANGES THINGS

There is a passage in Matthew 17 where the disciples came to Jesus asking why they could not heal a boy, and Jesus ended up healing and then said,

“Because you have so little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there,’ and it will move,

and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:20 ESV

Notice how it does not say, “the sizes of.” It does not say, “It is the amount of faith you lack.” It does say if you have faith LIKE a grain of a mustard seed. Many teach, “Look how small it is, and God says if we have faith even that small.” It does not say anything about the size of our faith but where our faith is placed! Look at the mustard seed. It is a living thing; given the right environment, it grows. The mustard seed is held in a hand or placed in a jar by itself; it does not grow. The mustard seed knows that it relies on God's supernatural power to bring rain and nourishing soil to bring new life.

One of my mentors loved to say, “I cannot get gasoline without God!” In other words, if we wake up today, God is not done using us. So, every breath, every moment, everything is because of Him; we cannot do a thing without God. Neither can we see healing without God’s power. It is not about how much faith we have, the right kind of faith, or having enough belief in ourselves. It is our faith and reliance upon the God of miracles to do way above and beyond what we can imagine or ask; in whose name? JESUS. So, speak to the mountain, but realize it is about your relationship with God; it is about your faith in the God that is bigger than any mountain you face.

Instead of talking about how big your mountain is, speak to your mountain about how big God is!
